Most of summer is packed with busy days or events and possibly lots of guests! Whether it’s a pool party, graduation party, wedding, or barbecue, reality is that you use a lot more water during this time! Here are 3 tips to your plumbing in shape for this hot summer season!
- Check Air Conditioner Drain It’s pretty common to know that you have to change your air conditioner filter every six months, but we might be neglecting other upkeeps with the A/C too! Problems with the A/C drain could be leaks, mold growth, blockages, or flooding. It can build up blockage which then might propel any leaking/overflowing issues due to the obstruction. Also, it’s an ideal place for mold to grow! Dark, wet, and cold! Prevent this by inspecting and cleaning it once a year.
- Inspect Your Washing Machine With guests visiting and kids running around outside and probably in dirt more, sweatier days, it’s likely that you’re laundry is piling up more than usual. This time of year is a good time to make sure that there are no leaks, the hoses are not cracked, and that there is no growth of mold or mildew near these connections or anywhere near or on it for that matter. Those hoses should typically be replaced every three years.
- Test And Examine Your Sprinkler System With the temperature increase, it’s important to keep your yard cool and watered. Test your sprinkler system, they’re infamous for wasting water if they go unchecked. Clean out any sprinkler heads to make sure that there’s no debris clogging it and making it spray unevenly and replace any broken ones. Re-adjust the direction of the heads as well to make sure they’re all watering where you want them to! Lastly, after you run that test make sure that there’s no leaks pooling in your yard!
- Have Someone Check On Your Home Have a trusted friend, family member, or neighbor check on your house while you’re gone to ensure everything is soundly! It would be best to leave a set of phone numbers, not only to reach you but to contact anyone they might need to, If you inspect these this warm summer season and need more assistance!
