Hydro Jetting Success Story: Unclogging in La Jolla

Clogged drains may be messy, but unclogging them doesn’t have to be!

We’re proud and excited to share a success story about how we unclogged a commercial facility while keeping the interior of the property safe and sanitary.

Our client’s commercial facility had severe recurring clogs, which were caused by the buildup of materials inside of the pipes over several years. Drain buildup and recurring clogs are common in older neighborhoods like La Jolla, where our client was located, as well as in Del Mar nearby.

Hydro Jetting Removes Old Buildup & Clogs

Hydro jetting completely removes clogs, whereas snaking can remove clogs but leave debris behind. Hydro jetting uses the power of pressurized water to unclog pipes, pushing debris through and down the waterline and into the sewer system.

Our client’s facility needed to be safely unclogged while ensuring that the interior of the building would remain clean.

Our plumbers first inspected our client’s facility to ensure that the pipes were suitable for hydro jetting in La Jolla. At California Plumbing, our hydro jetting service includes complimentary video inspection in order to assess the clog and the condition of the line. Video inspection is especially helpful to show us if there is a root intrusion or belly in the line. This inspection also allows us to estimate a quote for repairs, if necessary.

We then determined the best point to mount the hydro jet machine hose. The water pressure used to hydro jet is typically 3000 PSI, which is powerful enough to remove the most stubborn of clogs.

Is Hydro Jetting Better Than Snaking?

Hydro jetting is a fantastic plumbing solution for commercial facilities that must adhere to strict health, safety, and environmental standards. As a non-invasive plumbing solution, no other tools or chemicals are required to safely and effectively remove clogs.

Keep in mind that hydro jetting is not suitable for old pipes, which may be too fragile to withstand the pressure. Commercial snaking may be the only option to unclog old pipes, and repiping may be the only solution for pipes that have been cracked or damaged as a result of severe obstructions, such as tree branches.

However, when pipes have been professionally inspected and deemed suitable, and when performed by a trained and licensed professional, hydro jetting is often the best solution for many types of clogs.

Hydro jetting offers a streamlined plumbing solution from beginning to end. The directional nozzle of the hose and pressure of the water of the hydro jet pump pushes buildup and clogs directly into the waste water system, requiring little to no cleanup afterward. While snaking can be an effective solution for many clogged pipes, it does require cleanup. Snaking removes clogs either by loosening the debris or, in some cases, pulling the debris out of the pipe. Hydro jetting can offer more versatility and power, whereas a snake is only as effective as the width of its tip. Snaking does not completely remove material buildup, and clogs may reform.

Hydro jetting was the perfect solution to remove clogs for our client while adhering to their facility hygiene policies.
